International Women’s Day 2023: Women Leaders in Tech

-

Diversity and inclusion are key to building a strong and successful workforce. We are committed to empowering women to succeed in their chosen fields.

This year, BLCC Singapore, was proud to co-organise the International Women's Day 2023: Women Leaders in Tech event with the Embassy of Belgium in Singapore, Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT), and Blockchain Association Singapore (BAS).

The event was graced by H.E. Colette Taquet Belgian Ambassador to Singapore. Madame Taquet shared her concern with the recent UN warning that achieving full gender equality may take as much as 300 years. Undeserved privileges for boys and men have to end. She emphasized that IWD plays an important role in bringing attention to gender disparity and the specific risks facing girls and women as far as violence, harassment and discrimination is concerned. Science and tech can equalize power between genders. It is important for the overall development. She voiced her concerns about raising levels of cyberbullying and women oppression on the web. She believes a lot more can be done by tech companies to better manage negative attacks on women in public roles such as politicians and business leaders.

This opening was followed by a panel moderated by the Chair of Blockchain Association Singapore, Ms Tan Bin Ru ( 陈敏如) (Dy CEO and COO, Chainup). Our Panellists, Ms Yvonne Siow (Head ASEAN, OneSight Essilor Foundation), Ms Christina Y. (Head of Marketing, SettleMint), and Ms Steffi Goh (Head Marketing APAC, MetaCo) all added much colour to a robust discussion about how to create more #equity and #equality for women in the workforce.

We are excited about the progress we have made so far in encouraging more women to pursue a career in tech and maintain our dedication to fostering an environment that is supportive, inclusive, and inviting to people of all genders. Today, let us continue to work together towards a brighter, more equal future for all. #embraceequity #career #womenintech #womeninblockchain
