🌐 Singapore Immigration Landscape in 2025! 🌐
Held in Kempinski Hotel, this exclusive event provided members of BLCC Singapore and SwissCham Singapore both the opportunity to network and a comprehensive overview of the latest immigration changes with their impact on businesses and professionals and the Singapore Permanent Residency Application Process.
Hong Quan Lock, Deputy Director, Foreign Workforce Policy Department, presented a good overview of the Singapore’s Foreign Workforce Policy, highlighting:
🔸 The need to be both pro-business and pro-worker
🔹 The key shifts in policies to support productivity-driven growth
🔸 The various initiatives introduced to strengthen Singapore’ position as a global talent hub. Two initiatives in 2023 are ONE pass to attract cutting-edge professionals and 5-Year Employment Pass for tech professionals with skills in shortage.
🔹 Greater flexibilities beyond the mainstream framework for strategic companies undertaking new investments or undergoing transformation such as Tech@SG(for EP) & Manpower for Strategic Economic Priorities(M-SEP) scheme (for S pass and WP)
Dr. Maximilian Kressner, Attorney-at-Law at Luther LLP, provided attendees a more in-depth understanding of the
🔸 Complementarity Assessment Framework (COMPASS) on Employment Pass applications, which was introduced in September 2023. Attendees gained insights of the 4 foundational criteria (salary, qualifications, diversity and support for local employment) and 2 bonus criteria (skills bonus and strategic economic priorities bonus.
🔹 the recent updates to the Employment Pass (EP), Personalised Employment Pass (PEP) and Overseas Networks & Expertise (ONE) Pass, including the increased minimum monthly salary requirements
Finally, Céline Breitenmoser, Attorney-at-Law at Luther LLP shared about the streamlined Permanent Residency application process, highlighting new documentation requirements such as detailed employment history, income tax documents for overseas applicants, and changes to the submission process. After 3 insightful presentations, the Q&A session was engaging as the attendees shared real scenarios, which the speakers helped to address.
